The collection of wallpaper designs for Affreschi & Affreschi follows the line style that is characteristic of the artist and their common theme brings the focus to human connection. The designs represent human interaction in a variety of forms based on balance and fluid communication. Most of Dalli’s designs for Affreschi & Affreschi are based on drawings that have been made with one line, that is, without lifting the pen from the paper. “Among the most fascinating activities of life is that of traveling and discovering how much beauty there is in the world: millions of people looking for breathtaking places, works that the human being has created and that leave traces in the soul of those who admire them. The search for beauty is what moves the world, cultural contamination is what unites it. Traveling, I learned that there are very few who have the ability to grasp the essence of those who have been able to create so much beauty as to arouse amazement. We dedicate Venus, a series of drawings that have made the history of Italian art and masterfully created by Master Milo Manara, to these people. From now on, they will become decorations that furnish exclusive spaces, works to be admired with eyes that go beyond the senses and the obvious and that know how to capture the essence of that beauty that leaves indelible marks in each of us. I first set eyes on Milo Manara’s works in 2002 in a café in Civitanova Marche, recently restored and reopened after years. Day after day, admiring the painted vaults of the Vecchio Caffè Maretto, I thought about my future but I realised that I was dreaming. ‘Naturae’ is the new wallpaper collection by Affreschi &Affreschi, in collaboration with the renowned Italian architect and designer, Fabio Novembre. This collection draws inspiration from nature in all its forms and nuances, merging its inherent beauty with Novembre’s limitless creativity. The creative genesis of this collection emerged as a reaction to the extraordinary situation humanity has faced in recent years. In contrast to the anthropomorphic spaces to which we were confined for weeks, the subsequent period witnessed an irresistible desire to return to nature and the primordial origins of things. It signifies a reclaiming of places from our historical, cultural, and natural heritage, a reconnection with the most primitive and essential aspects of human existence, far from artificial social constructs. It is in this context that Fabio Novembre’s graphic design originates from the ‘landscapes’ collection, which draws inspiration from the Italian territory, observed with a completely renewed gaze and from a hopelessly different perspective. The path continues through the representation of ‘camouflage,’ a method that has always been used by man to blend in with nature and as a form of contestation of any war event. Finally, the project culminates in ‘handprints,’ a highly symbolic series that takes inspiration from the Cueva de las Manos and depicts the mark that man leaves on the world through his own limited life experience.
